I'm indebted to a friend of my wife who let me know what a particular specimen of flora was that I had seen along the Sourwood Trail and the Lower Whitewater Trail. The plant, shown to the left is called lycopodium digitatum, and is still one of the coolest things I've seen on a hike in a while.
