I've been on this trail before, when my wife and I did some traveling one late summer. This is a relatively short trail, around 3.5 miles round trip, and the path moves through many different types of environments.
The first stretch of the trail winds around large boulders. The trail is lined with Queen Anne's Lace blooms. The trees create a tunnel that the trail runs through. The view from the trail along the ridge was partially obscured by the clouds. The trail is often enhanced by wooden steps and pathways. When I got to the top, the clouds were thicker, providing a contrast with the beautiful colors. Here is fall in the Smoky Mountains. The blue of the clouds provided beautiful colors against the leaves. The field at the top of the bald is cut through by a wooden path. Towards the end of the trail, the view became even more beautiful.
