I have been to the Fants Grove area of the Clemson Experimental Forest before. However, recently, I became aware of the Issaquena area of the Clemson Experimental Forest, which is just a short drive up from the university. I tried out some part of the trail on a Saturday morning in late summer, to see what it was like. To my delight, I found the area to be worth returning to on my evenings after work.
Very green this time of year in the Clemson Experimental Forest. Very green, indeed. This trail was part of the Indian Springs loop (I think). Even in late summer, there were a few flowers to be seen. The moss grew all over some of the partially dead trees. Sometimes the trail was quite open... ...and sometimes not so much. They almost look like wings sprouting up from the greenery. I wandered around, not knowing precisely where I was going. Even though I wasn't sure where the trail led, I enjoyed my time.
