The Coldspring Branch Trail is a 2.6-mile trail in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area in upstate South Carolina. This gallery also includes images from the Jones Gap trail, which I traversed, in order to complete a trail loop that led me back to the Raven Cliffs parking area.
The side of the trail was decorated with exposed roots. The pattern of this decaying log was almost like a starburst. The roots of this tree were wonderfully knotted. A lovely rotten tree stump The trail was strewn with small waterfalls and cascades. Not sure what this is, but I thought it photo-worthy. As usual, some fungi for the queen. The moss-covered rocks provided a nice counterpoint to the thin tree trunks. This was one of the more intense of the falls. This waterfall was along the Jones Gap Trail, not far from where it joined up with the Coldspring Branch Trail.
