These waterfalls were reached by the Deep Creek Loop Trail, in the Great Smoky Mountains. This loop trail was a relatively easy 4.6-mile trail found just outside of Bryson City, North Carolina.
Toms Branch Falls is the first thing to see, just a quarter mile or so from the trailhead. Not far from Toms Branch Falls, a bridge crosses the creek to continue on to Indian Creek Falls. Just beyond the bridge was a viewing area for a number of small beautiful cascades. Someone stacked stones on one of the rocks in the rapids. I apparently really enjoyed these rapids. Indian Creek Falls itself was very pretty, but hard to photograph, due to the surrounding trees and potential vantage point. Getting an image of Indian Creek Falls required standing on these roots, and trying to get a tripod to remain steady on them. All the same, they were very intricate and lovely in their own right. The last image was looking down, but looking up was just as beautiful. This red-berried ground cover was all around the upper curve of the loop. As the trail wound down, there was another bridge with a great view of more rapids. Finally, one last view of the creek as I headed off back to the car.
