These images were taken during a brief hike back at Glassy Mountain, just outside of Pickens, SC. On this hike, I found a side trail that went down to a large rock face that overlooked the rural countryside. Last time I was here, it was in the dead of winter, but this time, it was summer, and much greener.
The countryside was quite scenic, in a bucolic fashion. The vivid greens and blues were stunning from the overlook. The rock outcropping was somewhat marred by graffiti, but the view was still beautiful. There were daisies all over my chosen observation spot. The sides of the trail had patches of spiderwort. Along the road leading away from the mountaintop, trumpet creepers abounded. Another view of the trumpet creeper Not sure, but these might be unhulled walnuts. What looks like a small butterfly is the stamen of this trumpet creeper.
