These pictures were taken on a brief hike on the Hospital Rock Trail, in Jones Gap State Park. The full trail was not available that day, due to a trail closure, but the available part of the trail offered wonderful views of the fall colors.

Much of the trail was surrounded by large rocks.
The autumn colors were glorious in the treetops.
The trail winds through large boulders among the trees.
The trail crosses over this stream that flows through in a series of cascades.
The colors were more than just brilliant reds, but also splashes of gold.
Towards the end of the available trail, there was a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains covered with a haze.
Turning around from the outward view, the colors flowed up to the upper slopes of the mountains.
I stayed at the top of the trail for some time, capturing various views of fall colors.
The contrast between the warm colors of fall and the deep blue of the sky were gorgeous.
This shot was taken as I headed back down the trail.
I am truly a sucker for the fall.
