The Natural Bridge State Resort boasts a number of trails in the area, including the two represented by this gallery. The Natural Bridge Trail is about .75 miles and starts just a few yards from Hemlock Lodge, a hotel/visitor's center for the for the area. The trail isn't particularly difficult, but it does go up about 500 ft. during its length. This trail also shows the Balanced Rock Trail, which I used to get back to the lodge from the Natural Bridge. Both trails feature complex rock formations and fantastic erosion patterns.
The trail is very well maintained, starting near the welcome center. The rock formations along the trail were of many different types. There was some fascinating red rock that provided contrast against the green foliage. The patterns of erosion on the walls of the trail provided many intricate nooks and crannies. All along the trail, there were small caves and crevices. The bridge was so large, I was not able to get a good vantage for a shot of the whole thing, but this is one side of the arch. To get to the top of the bridge, it was necessary to walk through this narrow passage. This is the view from the top of the bridge. This little one was nice enough to pose for a picture. I loved the root structure on this tree. Another rock face on the way back down. We had come back down using the Balanced Rock Trail
