These pictures are from a short hike in Devil's Fork State Park in upstate South Carolina. The trail is the Oconee Bells Trail, which is a 1-mile loop through the park. The trail is named for the Oconee Bell, one of the rarest wildflowers in the United States.

As this tree began falling over, the roots pulled the ground up, creating a cave beneath.
These layered rocks formed a wall along the far side of one stretch of creek.
This was one of a few small cascades along the creek.
This is one view of the Oconee Bell, with unopened blooms surrounding it like torches.
Near the patch of Oconee Bells was this amazing tree knot along a large root.
Here's an image of the Oconee Bell from the front, so that you can see it in full bloom.
Near the end of the trail, I saw this stretch of greenery and moss.
