The Raven Cliff Falls Trail in South Carolina is a moderate 2.2-mile hike (4.4 miles, round trip) to an overlook for the waterfall that gives the trail its name. The trail is part of the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, with a trail head in Caesar's Head State Park. These images were taking in mid-January of 2013.
This was one of the clearest views I could get of the valley with the clouds. The sides of the trail were covered with the remnants of fall. A trunk with a twist, interesting formation This is a representative view of the first mile of the hike. This flat boulder makes a convenient viewing platform to look across the valley. Getting closer to the falls I saw a bird's head in this broken branch. Raven, maybe? The slight greenish tinge to these mushrooms make them stand out. This is the view of the waterfall from the main observation deck with normal lens. The telephoto brought the waterfall a bit closer.
