The Tamassee Knob Trail is part of the network of trails that in Oconee State Park in upstate South Carolina. This trail, just over 2 miles in and 2 miles back out, is a moderate trail that leads to the top of Tamassee Knob, a 1,620-foot peak. Perhaps not the most impressive peak in the area, it still provides a wonderful view of the Carolina Blue Ridge mountains. These pictures were taken on a cold morning in late January, with some ice still lingering on the trail in spots.

The trail starts off from the Foothills Trail parking lot.
Even in winter, there are plenty of evergreens providing color.
Even the moss on the trees provides the trail with extra vibrancy.
The ice from the night before still lingered around the trail's edges.
Not really sure what to say about this...just interesting.
A fallen tree branch provides a platform for new growth.
The clouds lingering over the mountain tops along the climb were simply stunning.
This was one of the few spots along the trail that offered an unobstructed view of the clouds over the mountaintops.
These mushrooms just grew out of the trunk midway up the tree.
The view from the top of Tamassee Knob was worth the hike.
