Hen Wallow Falls can be found in the Great Smoky Mountains along the Gabes Mountain Trail. It's a 4.4-mile round trip trail, that's mostly moderate to difficult, with a rather steep and strenuous last part down to the base of the falls.

It was a somewhat overcast day, and there was so much tree cover, the trail was shadowy.
If it wasn't for the fact that I was with a bunch of fun family, the trail might have been gloomy.
Looking up, you can see that there is light beyond the foliage.
Cool tree trunk, but no time for climbing.
About a third of the way, a bridge crosses a creek, providing a view of this small cascade.
A sign of things to come, this little cascade was a pleasant view.
Not a lot of wildlife on the trail, but this little guy was hanging out alongside our path.
I was quite taken by the texture of this fallen log, in the way it was chipped.
The Queen did not join us on this trip, so I took a picture of these for her.
More wildlife! This guy was kind enough to pose.
As we approached the spur to go down to the base of the falls, we passed by this great rocky ridge.
And the main attraction, Hen Wallow Falls itself.
All things considered, the waterfall was an enjoyable place to sit and rest before heading back up.
