Driving in the Rain

During my brief vacation, I tried to go on another hike, but I ended up just driving around the Smokies, because of the rain. It stopped long enough for me to take a little walk to a creek, but mostly, I just wandered around in the car. But I figured, since I got some pictures, I'd go ahead and share them.

Because of the low cloud cover, the Smokies were really living up to their name. And the autumn color was continuing to spread across the mountains, adding a little bit of red or gold to the green and gray.

It's a Jungle Out There

The first time I went on the Tamassee Knob trail is was a rather icy morning, not long after a winter storm. The 2.1 mile trail to the peak was inundated with mud, ice, and a chill wind. I still enjoyed it, though, with the bare trees offering a grand view as the trail wound upwards.

Summer in Georgia

Yes, it's summer in Georgia, which means stifling heat, high humidity, and the strange propensity of the weather to be unpredictable. I went off to the North Georgia mountains to try the Andrews Cove Trail, which is a 2-mile in-and-out trail north of Helen, GA. I knew that there was a chance that rain would be on the playlist for this jaunt, but if I didn't try to go even with the threat of rain, I might never get my chance to get on the trail. That is especially true of this summer.
