I took a rather challenging hike, this time around, up in the foothills of upstate South Carolina. I had been to Table Rock State Park before, to go on the Carrick Creek Loop Trail. However, this time, I decided to go for the summit of Table Rock itself. Climbing to the top of Table Rock was worth the work, but it was a more strenuous hike than I had done in while. The hike is just a bit over 3 miles to the actual summit, with another half-mile or so to a fantastic view that is worth it, if you still have the energy.

The Slaughter Creek Trail starts off at Lake Winfield Scott, which is just a few miles south of Blairsville in the Blood Mountain region. In fact, the trail is an access trail to the Appalachian Trail (AT) and the summit of Blood Mountain. It's a fairly moderate 5.5 mile trail (round trip), ending at a T-junction with the AT. Most of the intense climbing is around the last quarter of a mile.

Anna Ruby Falls are a pretty two-cascade waterfall in Unicoi State Park, in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Thisis a rather popular spot, with a .5 mile paved trail up to two different observation decks. Not a very long hike, but an enjoyable one, if you're looking for an easy scenic walk through numerous smaller rapids and waterfalls, bridges, and massive rock formations on either side.
